Meet our Faculty
The faculty of The School of Design comes from around the world. Chosen from a community of distinguished artists and designers in North and South America, Europe, the Dominican Republic, and other Caribbean countries. Our professors are dedicated to academic excellence in the various fields of art and design.
While the language of instruction is Spanish, many faculty members speak English and can offer special attention to English-speaking students whose Spanish is not strong. However, The School asks new students who do not have a good command of Spanish to take an intensive Spanish course before enrolling.
Angelo Valenzuela
Foundation Year: Drawing, Composition
Previously: President and founder, La Casa de la Cultura del Proyecto Cultural Sur San Juan, San Juan de la Maguana.
Currently:Regional director, Secretary of State for Culture, Dominican Republic.
Prizes and honors: National Theater Prize, Universidad Central del Este, San Pedro de Macorís, 2001; Second place, Dramaturgia de Athene, 1992; Honorable Mention, Concurso de Teatro de Casa de Teatro, 1987 y 1999.
AAS, Fine Arts/Illustration, Altos de Chavón School of Design; Drawing Marathon, New York Studio School, New York City; course in using low-cost and easy-access materials, Altos de Chavón School of Design.
